Katherine is of average height for modern times, about 5'6". She was actually considered tall for a woman back when she was human. Her build is slender but well toned. She has very dark brown, kind of smoldering sultry eyes. Her hair is long and dark brown as well. She usually wears it down and loose. There sometimes is a slight wave/curl to her hair which is one of the slight differences between her and Elena.
Katherine's choice of clothing is another one of the slight differences between her and her doppelganger Elena. Unless of course she is impersonating Elena then she dresses just like her. Katherine has a pretty wide fashion sense. Her casual dressing style is a little edgier than Elena's. A little tighter, form fitting, maybe sexier but not outlandish.
There are also times when it's clear that Katherine is not just another teenager and she will wear a more sophisticated dress or something. Her make up is a little darker and more prominent than Elena's but it's not garish.
Katherine has her ears pierced. She also always wears her lapis lazuli pendant/medallion/charm. She has had at least two different lapis lazuli pieces of jewelry. ---- ROLE PLAY SAMPLE
Not surprisingly, it wasn't exactly a warm welcome that she recieved from Damon. She could see the little muscles in his cheeks twitch as he clenched his jaws. Keeping her expression as neutral as possible, she couldn't help the eyeroll that automatically happened when he spoke. His words were the usual, what she would expect from him. The tone though, it wasn't quite the same. They didn't have the same bite (pardon the pun) laced with acid as they normally did.
Katherine furrowed her brow as she thought. Trying to put the pieces together, Damon alone, at the lake, yes she was well aware of the significance of this particular spot. His words still sarcastic but without that extra umph of hostility. This was broody, contemplating Damon. Chewing on her lip she watched him for a few second.
She almost felt sorry for interrupting him.
Almost.
"Well, pardon me for speaking. I just thought, you were here, I was here, conversation was appropriate. If it bothers you so much, I'll be quiet or you don't have to stay."
Then she remained quiet as she sat down next to Damon, but not to close. It seemed they were both in a bit of a reflective mood. As much as they bickered with each other, she could respect his need for a quiet moment. Wasn't that what she herself had been searching for? Walking alone with her thoughts. She sighed softly as she straightened the skirt of her pink summer dress (designer of course), pulled off her sandals, stretched out her legs and let them dangle in the water. If Damon didn't like it, he really could just leave. She didn't feel like playing games. Maybe they could just sit quietly in their own thoughts.
As she sat flicking the water with her toes she let her mind drift again. Trying not to pay attention to Damon, would he get up and just walk away. Was she really so bad? Unfortunately, she had to answer yes to that question. She had really done a number on Damon. Running a hand through her hair as she thought about thing. Irreparable damage? Probably in Damon's eyes, but what could she do? She couldn't got back and fix it. She couldn't make him human again. As far as his broken heart, it would be an insult to him to try and explain. She couldn't take back the wicked words she had said to him.
There it was again, changes.
How could she say what should have been obvious. At least in her mind it should have been obvious. All those years since 1864. Katherine had not only watched Stefan, she had watched Damon from afar over the years too. Of course, she hadn't told him that. But... Even though her words said one thing, how could no one see that her actions may have said something else. At least it wasn't as black and white as they made it out to be.
Her professing her "love" of Stefan after her return. Her telling Damon that she had NEVER loved him. Did no one bother to notice that in all those years, broken hearted Damon davasted by the fact that Katherine hadn't contacted him, hadn't let him know she was still alive. The big glaring neon sign in this picture was... She hadn't contacted Stefan either.
Truth was. It was complicated. Even she didn't know what she felt or wanted For over 500 years she had been on the run. Then for a short period of time in 1864 she had some happiness. Only when it was clear that she was going to be caught did she run. She didn't intentionally leave them to hurt them. But, there were so many years of having to protect herself. Yes, she was selfish. The need for self preservation was a prevailing factor for her.
However, she wasn't completely heartless. It was part of keeping herself safe. She did what she had to do. At the time, she had no one else. Of all people, Damon should understand. They were not so different him and her. They both built walls around themselves. They talked about flipping that switch that turned off their emotions, but that was just a facade. That's why Damon couldn't fool her, she knew the same tricks. It's also why both the brother's intrigued her so. From the beginning there was something about both of them. They were different, they traveled different paths but they both ended up at the same destination. Some people might call it passion. It comes in many forms.
Stefan who works so hard to hold onto his humanity. On the other hand, Damon feels so strongly it's often hard for him to deal with it. So, he hides it. Stuff's it back down. He doesn't just want to hold onto his humanity, he wants to BE human. Something she had taken and couldn't give back.
Katherine knew, and as much as they were similar there was one fundamental difference.
Damon didn't choose to be a vampire, Katherine did. Though, true enough Katherine didn't have much choice in the matter... But... For Damon, as long as he thought he was going to spend his eternity with her, he wanted it too. Though he didn't realize she had planned to turn Stefan as well.
Such a strange turn of events. Katherine was lucky she had so much more time as a vampire to process. Sometimes she forgot how young Damon really was. He unwillingly became a vampire after he lost the love of his life and really just wanted to die. Only to spend all of his new life trying to find that love. Then Katherine didn't help matters. Breaking his heart all over again.
She almost felt sorry for him.
Almost.
Letting out a long heavy breath Katherine stared at the water. Who was she kidding. She did feel sorry for him. Well, perhaps not sorry... it was more a feeling of... regret? Whatever it was, the way Damon was acting, it wasn't helping her want to admit to any of it.
She was just that stubborn.
