Audrey Fisher
---- THE BASICS
Character's Full Name: Audrey Nicole Fisher
Nicknames and Aliases: Audi by some close friends and family. Dr. Fisher in her workplace.
Age: 35
Species: Werewolf
Played By: Kiele Sanchez
Appearance: Audrey is a casual dresser, for the most part. Sweatpants and tank tops, jeans and t-shirts, sneakers, etc. When she’s at work she wears scrubs or a lab coat, depending on what the day entails. She’s always wearing comfortable sneakers. On the occasion she goes out, Audrey likes to look nice, but she’s not one for over-the-top, fancy clothing. A simple dress or a skirt with a nice top and a good pair of heels will usually do it for her. She keeps her make-up simple: a bit of bronzer, mascara, and lip gloss. She usually lets her wavy hair air-dry, but half the time it misbehaves and she has to tame it with her blow-dryer.
Personality: For the most part, Audrey comes off as very pleasant and energetic. She always has a smile to greet someone with and a bounce in her step. Even without the aid of caffeine (which she regularly indulges in), Audrey hums with energy. She’s always fidgeting: tapping her pen, playing with her hair, bouncing on her heels. It seems she’s never standing still. She has a good sense of humor and believes laughter helps any situation. It’s not uncommon for her to crack a joke to lighten the mood in a room, or to put someone at ease.
While she may be good-natured, Audrey isn’t by any means a pushover. Under the surface, she’s a powder keg of mixed emotions. Over the years, Audrey has learned to suppress her emotions. She feels them, of course, but tries very hard not to let them show. Therefore, it’s often hard for someone to gauge how many of her buttons they’re pushing. It’s become second nature for her to plaster a smile on her face when really she wants to punch someone in the mouth.
While shutting down her emotions isn’t the healthiest coping mechanism in the world, it has helped Audrey in some ways. It’s easy for her to put her feelings aside and make logical decisions based mostly on reason. However, she does have her moments when she gets overwhelmed by her emotions. This can result in an outburst of some sort, whether it’s a temper flare or a crying jag.
In the workplace, Audrey is comfortable and confident. It’s the one place where she feels like a normal person, doing a normal job like everyone else. For this reason, she loves her work. She may not be the most professional dentist in the world, but her demeanor tends to put her patients and co-workers at ease. Audrey is a social person and has several friends, though none of them know her true nature. That is a closely guarded secret. She loves to date, but she tends to back away from serious relationships, not wanting to bring anybody into her life when once a month she turns into a monster.
At the end of the day, Audrey is kind, intelligent, and likes to look on the positive side of things. However, she’s lonely and often feels isolated. It upsets her that she can’t truly be a part of society in the way other people are, not without risking her own safety.
Powers and Strengths:
- Werewolf Bite – her bite can kill a vampire.
- Heightened Senses – her senses are keener than those of a normal human, even when in human form.
- Transformation – she transforms into a lupine creature during the full moon. Although her transformations are painful, they’re relatively quick.
- Accelerated Healing – wounds heal faster than a normal human’s.
- Speed, Strength, and Agility – when transformed, she is strong and fast enough to overpower a vampire.
- Medical Knowledge – Audrey has basic medical knowledge. Though her specialty is teeth, she knows some useful medical information. She can perform CPR, for example, and she knows the human anatomy. She’s also begun to acquire surgical skills.
- Emotional Control – For the most part, Audrey is very good at masking her emotions, remaining calm on the surface even though she’s far from it underneath.
Vulnerabilities and Weaknesses:
- Wolfsbane – Wolfsbane will burn to the touch and incapacitate her if it’s injected. She doesn’t make a habit of drinking the stuff, so it wouldn’t be pleasant at all if she ingested it.
- Magic – Magic can incapacitate her.
- Combat – She’s not much for hand-to-hand combat.
- Emotional Outbursts – If she’s caught off guard with an emotion, she can become overwhelmed.
- Other Werewolves – Although she doesn’t band together with others of her kind, preferring to blend in with humans instead, she does feel a loyalty toward other werewolves.
- Humans – She has a soft spot for humans and doesn’t like to involve them in supernatural dealings.
---- HISTORY
Audrey was born on June 2, 1977 in Austin, Texas. Her father, John Fisher, was a hard-working man as well as a gun enthusiast. Her mother, Alison, was a kind-hearted woman who didn’t mind getting her hands dirty. They lived on a farm for the better part of Audrey’s life. Her father worked the farm and owned a hardware store. From the time she was a young girl, Audrey learned to wake up with the dawn and put in a good day’s labor. She helped tend the farm and, when she was thirteen, started working at her father’s hardware store after school.
As a student, Audrey was bright and enthusiastic, but she wasn’t the best at getting her homework done on time, with her added responsibilities at home. She also didn’t have much of a social life outside of school. When she was sixteen, Audrey reached the milestone every teenager dreams of: she got her learner’s permit and her father started giving her driving lessons. She passed her driving test and started taking her father’s truck to work, or to the store to pick up groceries. One night, as she was driving home from work, she swerved to avoid hitting a dog that ran across the road. She hit an on-coming vehicle. Her truck took the hit better than the small sports car she’d hit. Audrey found the driver of the other vehicle lying several feet down the road, having been ejected from the driver’s seat. Audrey tried to stop the man’s wounds from bleeding, but he died. She had to walk several miles down the road, crying, before someone pulled over to help. After a few meetings with the police and an autopsy, the man’s death was deemed accidental. But, Audrey never forgave herself for causing the death of another human being.
Over the next few weeks, Audrey began to feel different. Her hearing and her sense of smell were keener, she was more irritable than usual. As the full moon approached, she became increasingly nervous and hostile for no apparent reason. She was at work one night when she started feeling strange. When the pain started, she panicked and called her father. However, by the time anybody arrived to check on her, she was nowhere to be found. Audrey awoke the next morning, naked in the woods, covered in blood with no memory of anything that had happened. She made her way home and her parents, alarmed, called an ambulance. After numerous tests and a night of observation, she was found to be healthy and she was instructed to monitor her activities in case this happened again. However, Audrey did remember the transformation. She didn’t know exactly what she had turned into, but she was confident she’d turned into something.
When the change happened again the following month, Audrey did her best to sneak her way home and chose to keep it to herself while she did some secret research of her own. It took her some time to put the pieces together and get a clear picture of what she was, and longer than that to accept it. By the time she graduated from high school, she had a scrap book full of obituaries she was pretty sure she was responsible for. She chose to leave her hometown and moved to Florida, seeking others of her kind. Originally, she planned to attend pre-med and then medical school to become a doctor – a form of penance for all the lives she’d no doubt taken. However, she found she was more interested in the field of Dentistry.
Over the next few years, Audrey slowly learned how to properly contain herself during her transformations, using various hidden places: basements, crypts, and in one instance a drawer in the local morgue (a horrible idea in hindsight). A med student discovered her banging on the inside of a morgue drawer, several of her limbs broken. Fortunately for Audrey, he happened to know a thing or two about werewolves. After setting her up to recover in the hospital, he introduced her to the leader of a local werewolf pack. Audrey was hesitant to join a pack, but it was clear she needed some kind of guidance. When she’d recovered, she reluctantly fell in with the pack. They taught her how to restrain herself safely and helped her through several transformations until they became faster and less painful.
As Audrey completed her dental training and started looking to start practicing her career, her pack mates weren’t very encouraging. They said it was dangerous for her to try to blend into normal society, being what she was, telling her there were people out there who hunted there kind. They also told her about their natural enemies, vampires. However, Audrey didn’t feel she fit into the pack and wanted to pursue her own path rather than having to run with this group. So, she and the pack parted ways and she was ordered to leave the state, as the pack took her leaving as disloyal. So, Audrey traveled to Virginia. For a few years she couldn’t seem to settle anywhere. She bounced from job to job, trying to start her career as a dental public health specialist. Eventually, she settled in Mystic Falls, Virginia, where she joined the staff of a private practice.
Audrey has been working in Mystic Falls for nearly four years and she’s currently studying to become an oral surgeon.
---- ROLE PLAY SAMPLE
Upon leaving her apartment building, Audrey immediately noticed what a beautiful day it was. It was warm, but the air was dry and there was a cool breeze that swept through the trees once in a while. Audrey lugged a binder and two thick text books out to her car, tossing them into the back seat before climbing into the driver’s seat. The radio kicked on as she started the car and she bounced her head along to the music as she drove.
A few minutes later, Audrey pulled into the parking lot of a small coffee shop and headed inside. Even on a Saturday, the place was a bit crowded, mostly with teenagers in need of a place to hang out. Audrey stood in line at the counter, overhearing a few conversations.
“I heard it was a mountain lion,” a young man was saying.
Another boy laughed.
“A mountain lion? Dude, when have you ever seen a mountain lion in Mystic Falls?”
“Didn’t that girl get eaten by a mountain lion last year?” a girl chimed in.
“Who, Vicki Donovan?”
“Oh, that was a rumor at best.”
“It’s true! My friend’s dad’s a cop and he saw the coroner’s report.”
“Can I help you?”
“Oh, yeah. And my buddy has a friend who saw Elvis once. Seriously, Jess?”
“Ma’am?”
Audrey tore her attention away from the conversation, realizing it was her turn at the counter. She smiled apologetically at the cashier, who looked annoyed to even be standing there. She had platinum blond hair and braces.
“Sorry,” Audrey said. “My head was elsewhere for a second.”
She had to force herself to block out the conversation happening behind her as she approached the counter. The topic of discussion had made her immediately anxious. The one kid was right: there weren’t any mountain lions in Mystic Falls. But, she knew darn well there was at least one werewolf. Forcing a smile and a cheerful tone, Audrey ordered a cappuccino and tried not to panic.
