Olivia Blake
---- THE BASICS
Character's Full Name: Olivia Marie Blake, M.D.
Nicknames and Aliases: Liv, Doc, her dad calls her 'Olive Oyl' now and then
Age: 25
Species: Witch (healer)
Played By: Miranda Kerr
Appearance: Olivia stands about 5'9" tall and has a slender build with soft curves. Her figure is delicate, but not frail... she definitely has a natural woman's shape. Her eyes are a brilliant ocean blue and are easily her best feature, though some would say her smile could light up the room. Olivia usually wears her silky brown hair pinned back somehow when working, but when she's out, she most often wears it long and loose.
At work, she dresses professionally, most often in nice, pressed slacks and some sort of button-down blouse, a lab coat, and sensible shoes. When at home she prefers comfortable jeans, tees, yoga pants and camis. Her closet holds a wide variety of clothing so she is usually prepared for any occasion. Olivia loves all colors so anything goes really. One definitely wouldn't describe her as dull or drab.
Personality: As of yet, Olivia isn't even aware that she is a witch. She has studied unconventional methods of healing such as meditation, crystals, aromatherapy, and the simple idea of mind over matter, and she uses these methods quite often, not realizing that it is her own magical ability that is helping her patients.
She has an excellent bedside manner that she carries with her even when she isn't at work. Olivia tends to be a mother hen to those she cares about, doing her best to take care of her friends and loved ones. Even a stranger in trouble would find themselves welcomed by her caring nature. While usually she expresses concern and offers help gently, she can be a bit obsessive over certain things, and if she sees someone not taking care of themselves or their environment, she might blow up a little in frustration. Some might find her to be a bit bossy or smothering.
In an emergency, Olivia is a natural. She is usually able to stay calm under pressure, and if she feels that she has the knowledge, information or skills needed to benefit a situation, she isn't shy about taking charge. At the end of the day, she wants everyone to go home happy and safe.
Powers and Strengths: Healing - Olivia uses crystals, candles, metals, scents, oils, herbs, etc to provide natural cures and first aid to her ailing patients. She also seems to have the ability to heal a person emotionally, at least temporarily. Some say her warm heart and kind smile are infectious.

---- HISTORY
There isn't much that Olivia knows about her birth parents aside from the fact that her mother was named April and that they didn't want anything to do with her. Apparently she was born to a drug-addicted runaway who left her behind after giving birth at the county hospital. The hospital staff followed all of the proper protocol when dealing with the situation, but when the young parents were finally located by the authorities, it was at the scene of a horrific car accident that had left them both dead. Trying to find a next of kin to take care of the newborn baby proved to be an impossible task, and after much searching for a proper home for the infant, one of the ER doctors took the appropriate measures to adopt the baby himself.
Olivia grew up in a loving home to Dr. Thomas Blake and his wife Maryanne, who was a professional cupcake baker. For ten years, she was none the wiser about being adopted, for they didn't treat her any differently than they did their biological son, Jeff, who was two years older than her. It was a tender, tear-filled moment when they finally revealed to her the truth, and though she felt a tiny bit rejected by her birth parents, she was definitely grateful that she had ended up with Thomas and Maryanne instead, because clearly they were more fit to have taken care of her. Olivia helped her parents dry their tears with a simple hug and a whisper of 'thanks.' Even at such a young age, she seemed to have a magical way with her heart.
Olivia began taking an interest in natural methods of healing when she was researching recipes on the internet for her mother and came across a web site describing the many uses of nutmeg, which included using it to make a paste and smearing it on a burn. She tried this method out on her mother when she burned the top of her hand on the oven, and the burn healed within the hour, leaving no trace that it was ever there.
Throughout her childhood, Olivia adored her family, and spent more time with them than she did having much of a social life with her peers. She often helped her mother in the kitchen and would listen to stories of her father's work day every evening with complete fascination. Olivia studied hard in school and proved to be well above average in intelligence. So much so, in fact, that she skipped grades 4, 7, and 10, graduating from high school at the young age of fourteen. Four years of undergraduate school, four years of medical school, and three years of residency at the hospital that employed her father later, and Olivia was ready to branch out on her own. She didn't move far from her hometown of Roanoke, settling in a small town called Mystic Falls just recently and opening her own private office.
---- ROLE PLAY SAMPLE
"I know, Momma, don't worry. I'll be fine," Olivia said to the phone as she drove toward work, the heels of her hands balanced precariously on the top of the steering wheel, as she was using them to both drive while simultaneously picking apart a cream cheese danish that she had picked up for breakfast at the corner bakery. It wasn't nearly as good as the ones her mother made, and it made her a bit homesick, but she was ready to make it on her own now and was determined to stick with her decision to move to Mystic Falls. Besides, right now she was just counting her blessings that the bakery was open so early, as the clock on her dashboard proclaimed it was just after five a.m. On the phone, Maryanne Blake was reminding her daughter of simple tasks such as carrying pepper spray and making sure her doors and windows were locked at night.
After exchanging I love you's with her mother, the call was ended, and so was the danish. Olivia sucked on her fingers one by one as she pulled up to the stoplight, diminishing all traces that they had ever held any sort of baked goods at all. She flipped on her right turn signal and looked for traffic, saw none oncoming, and turned right on red, just in time to hear a loud thump as the front right bumper of the car struck what appeared to be a rather large wolf-like dog. She slammed on her brakes, her hands going to her mouth in horror and her eyes going wide as she turned off the car and fumbled with her seatbelt to get it off. Olivia pulled her cell phone from the hands-free case on the stereo panel and slipped out of the car, her thumb on the emergency dial button just in case the dog decided it wanted revenge. Her heart pounded in her chest as she cautiously stepped around to the front of the car, and she was whispering over and over to herself 'don't be dead... don't be dead...' The dog was lying there, bleeding from a wound to its hip, and she moved toward it slowly, only to be taken aback when the animal scrambled to its feet and scurried off with a limp toward the treeline, leaving the young doctor staring after it with a heavy heart. She definitely needed to call animal control when she got in to the office.
